Prepping for Printing

A Pre-Printing Program

SPARK’s fun, play-based program works on building a solid foundation for future printing skills. Activities will focus on the development of the small muscles in the hands, eye-hand coordination, body awareness, scissor skills, and pre-printing pencil strokes. Following an intake screening, children will be placed into an appropriate group based on their developmental/skill level, but this group is typically well suited for kids around 3-4 years old.

Runs once a week for 6 weeks

Understanding Uppercase

An Uppercase Letter Printing Program SPARK’s fun program works on building a solid understanding of capital letter formations. These letters are created with just lines and curves, are all the same size, and easy to recognize. As uppercase letters are developmentally simpler, children have more success early on and build their confidence with printing! Following an intake screening, children will be placed into an appropriate group based on their developmental/skill level, but this group is typically well suited for kids around 4-5 years old.

Learning Lowercase

A Lowercase Letter Printing Program SPARK’s fun program works on progressing printing skills by teaching proper lowercase letter formations. After developing a solid understanding of uppercase formations, children can move on to the more complex lowercase letters that require shifts/directional changes to form, are sized differently, and put in differing spatial locations on a page. SPARK’s program supports children in learning the correct and efficient motor formations for lowercase letters, which helps to promote printing speed and legibility. Following an intake screening, children will be placed into an appropriate group based on their developmental/skill level, but this group is typically well suited for kids around 5-6+ years old.
